The Ethan Allen Express has terminus stations of New York on one end and Rutland, Vermont via Albany on the other. Penn Station is a site to behold. You’ll want to arrive early to navigate this massive building and take some time to look around as you make your way to Moynihan Train Hall. There are full services offered at this station as well as many restaurants. James M Jeffords Station in Vermont does not have as much to offer but it is a staffed station.

Only Penn Station in New York City offers free checked baggage, up to 2 bags per person of 50lbs.

Moynihan Train Hall – New York City

You will board your Amtrak train in Moynihan Trail Hall in New York. It’s a gorgeous hall with 92 ft high skylights and modern amenities. It is a world class station. You will find restaurants as well as convenience stores.

There are lots of options for hotels near this station. The closest option is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Penn Station.

James M Jeffords Station

James M Jeffords Station is a small station with a shelter and is staffed. It is located near the former Rutland Railroad yard on the western edge of downtown. This station opened in 1999. It was named to celebrate Rutland native, Jim Jeffords. There are few services available at this station so arrive prepared. There is no baggage check at this station.

The Comfort Inn Trolley Square is and adequate place to stay near the station, but you’ll need to get a cab or drive there.
