If you are on the Southwest Chief don’t miss the cool mural on the wall in La Junta, CO. This is usually a longer stop for a crew change. The mural is directly across the street and you’ll see it as you step off the train.

The stretch between Denver, CO and Grand Junction, CO on the California Zephyr is the most scenic part of the entire Amtrak system. You’ll be treated to incredible views out both sides of the train as you travel through several gorges.
Both Amtrak routes through Colorado connect to Chicago to the east and California to the West. The California Zephyr ends in Emeryville, CA, just outside of San Francisco, while the Southwest Chief ends in Los Angeles.
